Criteria

NHMRC Consumer Involvement Award
Nominees are considered strong advocates for health and medical research and inspirational role models for consumer involvement, who want to improve and support community interactions with research. They will highlight their long-term commitment and contribution to consumer and community research practices in the following areas:

  1. Advocacy – a voice for health consumers and people with lived experience
  2. Leadership - a role model who is committed to co-design and shared decision-making to deliver on research outcomes
  3. Impact – to improve the quality of health by demonstrating meaningful consumer engagement in research practices
  4. Innovation – a driven and creative approach to community involvement in research to improve human health
  5. Influence – ability to affect peers to enact best-practice behaviours.

NHMRC Ethics and Integrity Award
Nominees will demonstrate their commitment and contribution to supporting the highest standards of ethics and/or integrity in research practices and leadership roles in the following areas:

  1. Respect – fostering an open, honest and respectful research culture that supports the conduct of high-quality research
  2. Rigour – commitment to a strong ethics and/or integrity framework that reinforces and promotes the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and other relevant standards
  3. Transparency – promoting community trust by fostering the responsible sharing and communication of research findings, supporting data and enabling methodologies
  4. Leadership – upholding high standards for ethics and/or integrity that promote and deliver high-quality research and facilitate collaboration nationally and internationally.

NHMRC Research Quality Award
Nominees will demonstrate their leadership and commitment to supporting the conduct of high-quality research and leadership roles in the following areas:
Respect – fostering an open, honest and respectful research culture conducive to the conduct of high-quality research

  1. Rigour – commitment to the supervision and mentorship of research and researchers to ensure high-quality research practices in accordance with international standards
  2. Transparency – promoting community trust by fostering the responsible sharing and communication of research findings, supporting data and enabling methodologies
    Leadership –upholding and modelling behaviours, attitudes and values that encourage collaboration, equity and sustainability of research career paths, and supports the next generation of researchers.
