The Australian community expects research to be conducted responsibly, ethically and with integrity and we play a vital leadership role in maintaining and promoting the responsible conduct of research.
We provide guidance to researchers on responsible research practices and to institutions on how they should respond if concerns are raised that research conduct has fallen short of the expected standard.
The Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research
The Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, 2018 (the Code), the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and the Australian code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes 8th edition (2013) provide a framework for the conduct of all research in Australia.
Our policy on integrity
The NHMRC Research Integrity and Misconduct Policy advises institutions about their responsibilities to notify NHMRC about research integrity matters and describes what actions NHMRC may take. We also provide advice about how to report concerns about research integrity.
The Australian Research Integrity Committee
The Australian Research Integrity Committee provides a review of institutional processes used to manage and investigate potential breaches of the Code.
