The Report of the Independent Review of the Prohibition of Human Cloning for Reproduction Act 2002 and the research involving human embryos Act 2002 offers a review of legislation regarding the use of human clones for reproduction and the use of human embryos in research.

The Prohibition of Human Cloning for Reproduction Act 2002 (PHCR Act) and the Research Involving Human Embryos Act 2002 (RIHE Act) were enacted in 2002. Amendments to both Acts in 2006 required a review to be undertaken three years after the amendments took effect.
The Legislation Review Committee was chaired by the Hon Peter Heerey QC and the Report of the Independent Review of the Prohibition of Human Cloning for Reproduction Act 2002 and Research Involving Human Embryos Act 2002 was tabled in Parliament in July 2011. It contains recommendations in response to the legislated terms of reference which can be found in section 47A of the RIHE Act and section 25A of the PHCR Act.
