A new name and look for NHMRC's grant management platform. NHMRC is updating the name and branding of its grant management platform, Sapphire.

Over the coming months, Sapphire will progressively become NHMRC Grant Management System.

The new name provides a clear and straightforward description of the platform and a more sustainable identity for the future.

What is changing?

Sapphire will progressively be rebranded as NHMRC Grant Management System across:

  • the grants management platform
  • system screens and login pages
  • the NHMRC website
  • Grant Opportunity material
  • guidance and templates
  • training and support resources
  • emails and other communications.

During the transition, you may see both Sapphire and NHMRC Grant Management System used. This is expected while updates are rolled out.

What is staying the same?

The platform itself is not changing as part of the rebrand.

Researchers, RAOs, administering institutions and eligible organisations can continue using the platform as normal. Current grant processes and requirements remain unchanged unless NHMRC advises otherwise.

Do I need to do anything?

No immediate action is required. Continue to use the grants management platform and follow current NHMRC guidance as normal.

When will I see the change?

New branding will be introduced progressively from late 2026, with the transition continuing into early 2027. Because updates need to be made across systems, webpages, documents and guidance, the new branding will not appear everywhere at the same time.
