Nominations now open! New joint NHMRC-MRFF Advisory Committees and NHMRC Principal Committees

 We are seeking nominations from interested individuals to be on a range of advisory committees that will provide advice on health and medical research in Australia. Including but not limited to:

• consumers and community members
• industry representatives
• philanthropy representatives
• physicians and other clinicians
• researchers in all areas of health and medical research and at all career stages.

Nominees may be asked to serve on multiple committees, noting that all committees will have a consumer representative/s and an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representative/s.

Australia-Japan collaborative grant opportunity 2024 

 NHMRC-AMED 2024 ASPIRE Collaborative Research Scheme opened for applications on Wednesday 3 July 2024.

NHMRC and the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) are participating in a bilateral grant opportunity through AMED’s Advanced International Collaborative Research Program - Adoption of Sustainable Partnership for Innovative Research Ecosystem (ASPIRE).

This grant opportunity is open to collaborative projects led by at least one Australia-based and one Japan-based investigator.

Key dates for Australia-based applicants:

• Minimum data due Wednesday 14 August 2024 17:00 AEST
• Applications close Thursday 29 August 2024 17:00 AEST.

Dietary guidance for older Australians public call for evidence

 NHMRC is reviewing evidence for dietary guidance for older Australians.

We invite all stakeholders and members of the public to submit high-quality systematic reviews for selected diet and nutrition related topics for older adults.

The systematic reviews will support the identification of existing evidence for dietary guidance for older Australians and gaps where additional research may be needed.

Submissions close Wednesday 24 July 2024 14:00 AEST.

Review of the Statement on Consumer and Community Involvement in Health and Medical Research 

 Feedback received in response to the recent Statement of Consumer and Community Involvement in Health and Medical Research consultation process is currently being considered. We look forward to sharing the results with you in due course.

Travel grant – JPIAMR Early Career Researcher workshop 

 The Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR) is offering travel grants for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to attend the ‘From good science to a successful grant application in AMR research’ workshop. 

The workshop will be held from 18 to 19 November 2024 in Berlin, Germany and aims to strengthen the capacity of ECRs and stimulate networking, giving a possibility to meet experts within the field of AMR.

Applications close Thursday 15 August 2024 14:00 CEST (22:00 AEST).

Future Australian venom research funding

 A venom research grant is anticipated to be funded through the 2025 Centres of Research Excellence grant opportunity.

Potential applicants are advised that further information will be available as a forecast opportunity on GrantConnect prior to the planned grant opportunity opening in October 2024.

 Our upcoming July edition of Speaking of Science ‘international practice in translation of health and medical research’ is fast approaching and we can’t wait to share this one with you!

NHMRC/MREA - Grant opportunities key dates

 NHMRC grant opportunities are funded through the Medical Research Endowment Account (MREA).

Minimum data fields and requirements are outlined in Appendix G of the Investigator Grant 2025 Guidelines available on GrantConnect.

Applications that do not meet minimum data for PRC2 will be rolled over into PRC3 of the grant opportunity. Applications which are not submitted by the PRC2 close date will be rolled over into PRC3 of the grant opportunity.

 

Applicants must complete the required fields with correct information. Using placeholder text is not acceptable as minimum data. Minimum data fields for each grant opportunity are outlined in the Guidelines, which are available on GrantConnect. Only applicants that have completed minimum data by the due date can submit a full application.

Applicants are also reminded to complete their mandatory Sapphire ‘My Profile’ information. This information is used by NHMRC for reporting and statistical purposes, and to assess eligibility and structural priority considerations in grant opportunities.

Sapphire accounts: Applicants who intend to submit an application should ensure that their Sapphire account is active or they request access to Sapphire at least 3 business days before minimum data, noting that account activation processes cannot be guaranteed in less than this time.
