Changes to NHMRC participation in the 2027 NHMRC-Horizon Europe scheme
NHMRC advises that the 2027 NHMRC–Horizon Europe grant opportunity will not proceed.
On 9 June 2026, the Australian Government and the European Commission concluded treaty negotiations for Australia’s association to Horizon Europe, the world’s largest research and innovation program.
Australian researchers will be able to apply directly to Horizon Europe for funding from 1 January 2027.
In light of these developments, NHMRC will not run a separate grant opportunity to support Australian participation for 2027.
NHMRC will continue to provide advice to the sector on opportunities supporting international collaboration.
